16 Days of Activism

Since 1991, activists have fought from 25 November to 10 December to end gender-based violence. Now known as the 16 Days of Activism, people all over the world take up the cause to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

At Link, we’re thrilled to play a role in this global campaign.

In Malawi, the national campaign was launched in Dedza district, one of the regions where Link has been running education programmes for over ten years. We were honoured to be invited to take part in the event and showcase our efforts targeting social norms and working with the local community to encourage all girls to complete their education.

Girls who have participated in our netball-based confidence building classes also shared their stories. A netball tournament was held, and the Minister of Gender and Community Development, Dr Patricia Kaliati, presented the trophy to the winning team. We’re so proud to have played our part in this vital national event. All girls have the right to a safe, fulfilling and quality education, and we are more committed than ever to making that right a reality.
