We are delighted to announce two new projects which will improve the quality of education for hundreds of children in Ethiopia.
In a new partnership with Gates Foundation, as part of their Numeracy Research and Development (NRD) Challenge, we will be improving numeracy skills for children in grades 1-3 through active, participatory and play-based teaching methodologies, extra-curricular activities, and home-based learning.
Improving Foundational Numeracy Teaching in EthiopiaContinuing Link’s 10-year partnership with Boeing Foundation, we will extend our STEM Induction programme to 34 new schools and over 3,500 young people. It will raise expectations of what children can achieve in their study of STEM subjects, particularly children who face barriers linked to social norms such as girls and children with disabilities.
Girls into STEMBoth projects are based in Wolaita zone, the location of our successful STAGES project which was funded by FCDO with support from Boeing Foundation.
Social and emotional learning (SEL) and a gender-transformative approach remain key themes of our work in rural Ethiopia. Based on evidence, we will support teachers and school leaders to embed these into their schools, and work with our government partners to incorporate them into the national education system.
