Link Education Launches £7.5M RISE Project to Expand Access to Inclusive Education for Vulnerable Children

Link Education is thrilled to announce the launch of the new £7.5M RISE (Realising Inclusive and Safe Education) project, funded by Scottish Government.  Over the next five years RISE will open up access to education for thousands of children with disabilities in Malawi, Rwanda and Zambia.  RISE will strengthen government support for marginalised children, especially girls, supporting these children to access, attend and participate in a safe and quality education.

According to UNESCO, children with disabilities are 2.5 times more likely to be out of school than their non-disabled peers. This needs to change. Through RISE we will reach over 410 government schools through working closely with local partners to support marginalised communities. Link Community Development will lead activities in Malawi, Chance for Childhood in Rwanda and School-to-School in Zambia.

Together we will:

  • support identification, assessment and device provision for children with disabilities
  • strengthen teacher and leadership training in gender and inclusive education
  • engage communities and school governance bodies to better support children with disabilities.
